Far too often we allow our circumstances to dictate our attitude. Rather than take ownership and responsibility for our
attitudes we allow co-workers, or the economy or…to determine our outlook. In this series we will learn how we can adjust
our attitudes through the amazing power of gratitude. Two of the most powerful words in life are…”thank you.”

Look Up - Psalm 8
In this opening weekend of the series we look at Psalm 8 and the power of worship that focuses on
the character and nature of God and His handiwork. As we look up at a powerful, majestic, enormous God we
remember that He is bigger than all our problems and dreams. Consistent vertical gratitude begins to
change us.
Let’s face it…life can be tough. Each of us has a story and each of our stories includes some pain,
tears and trials. Where is God through all that? Well, He doesn't always keep us from those desert times
but does promise to walk through them with us. In this second message we look back and see the value
of those desert times and how they can be the most fruitful in life.
We have looked up and back, now it is time to look around at what God is doing right now. Through the
lens of gratitude life looks differently. We can see all the little blessings and gifts that are embedded
in each and every day. By mastering the words, “thank you” our world becomes brighter and lighter. Gratitude
makes relationships easier and life simply gets better as “thank you” flows from our lips.

The Revolution Begins
We meet Jesus in His hometown as He launches His ministry by making some extraordinary claims.
In doing so He challenges us to partner with Him as His representatives in the establishing of
the “Kingdom of God” in all its facets.
Shocking! Appalling! That is how many in Jesus’ culture would characterize this encounter.
Jesus stops in Samaria and talks to a woman of ill repute. In doing so he demonstrates His
unbelievable grace, but also reminds us that in spite of our past and present we have a story
and Jesus wants to be the central figure in that story. This most unlikely of candidates
changes her community. Your turn!!
Expensive and inconvenient, that’s what this encounter was. This very familiar story of the
Good Samaritan is actually incredible revolutionary. Jesus casts as the hero a hated "half breed"
and the villains are the most respected religious leaders of the day. This story challenges us
to really take a good look at whether we are doing what we can to meet the needs of those around us.
Famous last words. The passage today is often called the “Great Commission” and represents
Jesus’ clearest challenge to His followers. We MUST not keep this story of hope and transformation
to ourselves, but rather pass it on to the people around us.
"God there is so much hurt, pain, misery and brokenness around us! Why don’t you do something?"
What if God was asking us the same question??? We can no longer say "somebody oughta" or point
fingers at God when He clearly tells us to make it our problem. In this message we learn to
take responsibility for the world we live in and make it better.
In this 4 week series we explore the role of critical thinking in the life of a Christ follower. What
does it mean to “Love God with all your…mind.” Something we don’t THINK about very often. In this series
we will learn to reorient our brain to honor God.
